Remodeling an office, shop or restaurant in Grand Prairie? The city wants an asbestos survey on file before it issues your building permit. Grand Prairie Asbestos Removal helps owners and tenant contractors line up that survey, then clears any asbestos before the build-out begins.

Commercial space in Arlington and Pantego is covered too.

Commercial projects

Office and retail suites

Ceiling tile, floor tile, wall finishes and pipe insulation may all be left from an earlier tenant. We survey the area being rebuilt and the spaces around it that the work could disturb. If the last tenant had a survey done, ask the landlord for a copy.

Restaurants and food service

A restaurant rebuild tears out flooring, wall panels and equipment pads. We plan around your opening date and hold the demolition crew back until the area is cleared.

Commercial demolition

The city wants the state notification form handed in with the survey for a commercial demolition, even when the survey finds no sign of asbestos.

Mixed-use buildings

Shops with apartments above follow the commercial rules for the commercial part. If you are unsure how your building is classified, DSHS has the final word, and we will point you to it.

Start before you apply

Begin the survey before you submit your application. An incomplete packet delays the building permit, and the city says a demolition permit takes about 5 to 10 business days to process once everything is in.

Frequently asked questions

My suite was built in 2005. Do I still need a survey?

The state rule follows the work and the building type rather than a year. Grand Prairie asks for proof of a survey on renovations and demolitions of public and commercial buildings, so a newer space is worth a call to Environmental Quality at 972-237-8055.

Who can do the survey?

The city says only a licensed company registered with the State of Texas. We arrange an independent inspector, so the survey stays separate from the removal.

Owners of multi-unit buildings can see apartments and rentals or the homepage.
